Traveling has never been fun without my backpack, camping hat, and rubber shoes. I'm a traveler from this side of the world where everything is restless. That's the basic reason why I love to travel, my world is restless. Exploring other cultures is also among my desires, plus knowing different people. I know I can meet peoples from across the globe online but I want the sense of touch. I've been to Barcelona, Spain, France, Australia, Japan, and the Philippines.

Among my travels, the most unforgettable is my trip to the Philippine Islands. It was actually an accidental vacation. I arrived in Manila at 8 a.m. and this taxi driver brought me to a local airport with trips to Bohol. I took a lot of photos of its places and unique animals like the famous Tarsier. (Why does my ex-girlfriend suddenly comes ot mind?) Bohol is a splendid island. Thank God, I got my HP camera to preserve the image of the place and some special moments. I've been bringing this camera anywhere I go and I'm glad it is still alive.

Although I'm not a professional photographer, I still love taking my camera and its accessories with me especially when I'm given the opportunity to travel abroad for at least a month. Touring in a different land with an exciting crowd of people, rich culture, exhilarating sights, historical landscapes is truly a memory to be kept. When I went to Tanzania last summer, I brought along my HP camera because it is such a good traveling companion because it enables me to take shots of every scene that I want to capture. Summer in the South African dessert means that there would be a lot of wild and beautiful animals roaming and lurking around every spot of the safari. I had fun chasing and photographing black panthers, big ostriches, huge white elephants, dotted giraffes, shy owls and sneaky pythons when I was in the place because that was my first time to see real, live and free animals unlike those which are caged in a zoo. My office mates and my supervisor said that seeing me running around frantically aiming a shot and posing with every animal I saw made them think that it's my first time to see the world.

My HP Photosmart R717 which I used during my African escapade did not fail to bring wondrous images to life. Aside form the usual scene modes in ordinary cameras, mine have this Museum mode that enables me to take pictures of zebras and deers peacefully grazing over a green meadow flashless and quietly. When we went to Mt. Poor thing, we can't stay that long for the African Great Migration, so that we can see more species on animals and I can put their pictures in my African scrapbook.

Hewlett-Packard and its Photosmart 215 should be considered as a classic example of a top company relying more on its established standing to sell and not on quality products . I find it disgusting that a mediocre camera such as this has made its way to store shelves. What's more irritating is that, clearly, the company used the digital hype to sneak this excuse of a camera in stores.

I guess I can't really expect much from a $129 camera. It comes complete with flash and LCD but is surprisingly without means to protect or cover the lenses such as a lens cap. However, for 1.3 megapixels, this camera does produce 1280 by 960 pictures of satisfying quality. Problem is, the design (with two buttons located at the back) prevent my thumb from resting, making for awkward picture taking. And contrary to company claims, this camera does not work well with batteries that are rechargeable. I guess what I saved from buying this cheap camera is far outweighed by the rising cost of AA batteries.

This camera may be good though for people who are just starting photography. Or maybe as gifts to people with no clue at all when it comes to taking pictures. Anyway, it doesn't seem so smart for me.
